Before I go through everything required to set it up, I have a question: can you lock-on to enemies in this mod like in the original Metroid Prime? I've played a few other FPSs, and I think that's one of the main things that sets Metroid Prime apart from the rest: since you can lock-on, you can focus more on dodging attacks instead of hiding behind cover and aiming.
Apparently, Minecraft Forge won't work with Game Pass. Whenever I try double-clicking the 1.7.10 installer, it does nothing except produce a log file showing a bunch of errors, even though I already launched Minecraft: Java Edition through Game Pass and even created a new world.
Sadly at this point in time, Game Pass users can't mod their Minecraft because the game files are inaccessible. At some point Microsoft plans to allow Game Pass files to be moved around, making it possible to mod again. A lot of things have been messing up for me ever since Microsoft bought Minecraft and moved it to their store.

You definitely can! You can also lock onto grapple hooks. :)
Make sure to go through all your controls settings, though. You'll have to map the lock-on button, since it doesn't have a default.
Also, if Metroid Prime was your favorite game like me, you're going to find a lot of nostalgia and joy playing this one. :)
Um, hey, one more question: is there a way to play this without spending $30 to buy Minecraft?
Sadly, no, there isn't. They still own the game, Minecraft: Java Edition. After getting it, you can play this "modpack" for free any time. :)
Note: Bedrock Edition and Java Edition are very different. You'll want Java for this mod.

I downloaded this throught the itch.io launcher, but it would not run. No error messages or anything, it just will not start...
- Install Minecraft Java Edition
- Start the game at least once
- Install Minecraft Forge 1.7.10
- Extract "Metroid Alien Corruption.zip" into your Minecraft Directory
- Play the game using the Forge 1.7.10 version and select the save file called "Metroid: Alien Corruption"
Ah, I did not catch that this was a Minecraft mod. I just saw the title and images and went ahead with the download. Thanks for the info!
It started as a mod that, through a lot of peoples' hard work, developed into a full length game. You still have to own Minecraft Java to play.
